New Product Showcase
If you weren’t able to make it to the Boat Show or the Spring Fishing Show then you missed out on a couple of fantastic events. You didn’t get to see North America’s largest indoor lake at the boat show or the awe inspiring displays of new gear and seminars at the fishing show.
I had the opportunity to host a number of seminars at this year’s Spring Fishing Show. I invited a good friend of mine also from the television series “The Last Cull” to help present. Together we ran seminars for the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters for their Get Outdoors Program in conjunction with the Spring Convention.
Jay Cooper, whose book “What Are You Going to Fish For” is featured on my site www.blitzcreek.com was indeed a major catalyst in our success. Jay's a wonderful artist, fishing guide and fly angler extraordinaire.
We had literally thousands of freebies to give away and we did our best to get all of them distributed. I have to give special thanks to Canadian Fishing Tour Classic Champion Peter Savoia of Set The Hook Co. ( www.setthehook.ca ). His generosity allowed us to give away three top-of-the-line Airrus ultralight rods to kids that attended our seminars. A $400 donation! My hat goes off to you.
There were a number of really great new products this year. Internautic Marine Group (www.internauticcorp.com) had a concept boat displayed that was the talk of the show. The rig was designed by Jonnie Candle to have the same angles as an F18 fighter jet with the layout of a walleye boat. The Clamp (www.theclamp.com) was also a really great product that is sure to be a big seller. It’s a security system for your boat that locks the wheels and safeguards their removal.
Fish Hedz (www.savephace.com) is a brand new product that is hitting the fishing industry by storm. It’s a mask that covers your entire face to protect you from the elements and the bugs while running down the lake in your boat.
Last but not least are Tica reels and Airrus rods (www.setthehook.ca) both of which I will be using this year. These top of the line products are currently sleepers. Both products are precision engineered, of super high quality and boast price tags that are easy on the wallet. Airrus won “Top of Show” awards three years in a row at ICAST but as in all quality products both have been slow to reach Canada. Watch for local advertising and tackle retailers to be carrying full lines - coming soon.
Do yourself and your family a favour and make sure that you attend this weekend’s Toronto Sportsmen’s Show. You won’t want to miss out on the “big one”. 450 plus exhibitors, dog shows, outdoor adventure zone, outfitters and travel expo, boat super show and sale, cottage and country living zone, classic sportsworld, birds of prey area and kids zone. Rebate coupon at www.sportshows.ca.
Stop by and see me at Boatland Canada.
